Keep your records in a wateproof, portable container:
- Will, insurance policies, contracts, deeds, stocks, bonds, passports, social security cards, immunization records, bank account numbers, credit card numbers, inventory of valuable household goods, important telephone numbers, family records- birth, marriage and death certificates.

Lightning Safety
- If you can hear thunder, you are close enough to the storm to get struck by lightning
- If you are outside with others, stay at least 15 feet apart from them so the lightning won't travel between you if you are hit
- Make yourself the smallest possible target, squat with your hands on your knees and your head tucked
Hurricane Ready
- Develop evacuation plan in advance, including routes and shelters
- Find out if the shelter you have chosen allows pets
- Create a family disaster supply kit: Battery Operated radio, flashlights, first aid kit, non-perishable food items, 3 day water supply, non-electric can opener, medicines, cash and credit cards
- Teach children to call 911 in case of an emergency
- Know the proper way to protect your home during a storm
- Pre-measure plywood panels to use when boarding your home's windows before a storm hits
