Mayor Fletcher J. Hope, Jr. was originally elected in 2012 as the City of Archer Commissioner for Seat #3. He was re-elected in 2016 and 2020 and was re-elected unopposed in 2024. He currently serves as Mayor of the City of Archer and remains dedicated to providing effective leadership, fiscal responsibility, and community-focused service to the citizens of Archer.

A resident of downtown Archer since 1993, Mayor Hope and his family relocated to Archer to care for his wife's maternal grandmother, Mrs. Paul C. Maddox. Since then, he has become actively involved in numerous civic, community, historical, and regional organizations that contribute to the quality of life and continued success of the City of Archer.

Mayor Hope brings more than 47 years of experience in retail, public, and private food service operations management. His professional career includes leadership and management positions with HCA hospitals and community healthcare facilities throughout the region. He is currently employed by Publix Super Markets, Inc., where he serves as a full-time associate.

From December 2013 through February 2019, Mayor Hope and his wife, Mary, were co-owners of the historic Maddox Foundry and Machine Works Company in downtown Archer. Established on July 5, 1905, the company provided products and services to heavy manufacturing industries throughout the United States. Their sons, Chase and Paul, also contributed to the operation of the business through 2019.

Throughout his years of public service, Mayor Hope has been a member of the Archer Chamber of Commerce, the Archer Historical Society, ACPO, and numerous cultural and community organizations. He served on the Archer Volunteer Code Enforcement Board from 1994 through 2012 and served as Chair from 2010 through 2012. He has also served on various City of Archer advisory committees and citizen boards.

Mayor Hope served on the Board of Directors of the former HCA Federal Credit Union, now MyHealthcare Federal Credit Union, from 2001 through 2023. He was elected Chairperson and served in that role from 2013 through 2023, helping guide the organization through a period of continued growth and service to its members.

He is an active member of Bethlehem Presbyterian Church (USA) in Archer, Florida, where he serves as Treasurer and as a member of the Board of Trustees. His commitment to faith, family, and community service has remained a guiding principle throughout his life and public service career.

Regional Leadership

Since 2016, Mayor Hope has represented the City of Archer on the North Central Florida Regional Planning Council (NCFRPC) through appointment by the City Commission. He has served on the Council's Executive Committee since 2020 and served as Chairperson of the NCFRPC from June 2024 through June 2025. He continues to serve in regional leadership roles that support intergovernmental cooperation, economic development, transportation planning, and responsible growth throughout North Central Florida.
